To love

To all the women who came before
Who created the path
By paving the way with blood, sweat, tears
And life itself
Two steps forward
One step back
Yet still moving in the right direction
Grace and beauty and brilliance and compassion and empathy
All rolled into
Two x chromosomes
Capable of
Standing alone
Or
Standing beside
But no more
Will we follow behind.
